Arts & Crafts Design
"A contemporary expression of the American Craft tradition."
As a national leader in the study and interpretation of the American Arts & Crafts movement, Matthew Bialecki, AIA, has developed an architectural language that interprets the heritage of the Arts & Crafts movement by directly expressing natural building materials and their unique forms. In homes such as the Stone Craftsman, Vidich and Studley residences, MBA has created vital new contemporary expressions of this venerable architectural tradition. Plans are open, materials are raw stone or wood, rooms open to the landscape with large glass walls, and handcrafted details abound uniting the spaces in a common vocabulary. MBA has also incorporated the Arts and Crafts philosophy of self-sufficiency and simplicity into a commitment to buildings that minimize energy usage, utilize natural materials and attempt, at all levels, to help maintain and improve the environment. Our Arts & Crafts buildings utilize all the systems featured in our Sustainable Design Homes.
